At the gym today I spent about 35 minutes sparring with a punching bag. Four hours later, my right hand still won’t stop trembling. Did I do nerve damage? Overextend an arm muscle? I’m not too worried but I think if it doesn’t stop by the time I get off work I should maybe go to the doctors?

Assisted with identifying a person so they could be criminally trespassed from campus
Ran up 7 flights of stairs to help in the efforts to stop a burst pipe (so I’m excused from the gym tomorrow, right?)
Delivered eviction notices to residents (I hate that part of my job)
Was too busy to eat today because I was preparing for intervention for student who has not eaten in 22 days (irony, anyone?)

Interventions! So … ever have to facilitate an intervention for someone who may be joining a cult? Neither have I, until this week, that is. My job just keeps getting weirder and weirder (and simultaneously more exciting)! One student has been fasting for 19 days under the guidance of a “spiritual guru” (aka 45 year old transient living in a tent in the woods across from campus), gave away all of her personal possessions, and has cut off communication with her parents and friends. Today I’m taking two counselors with me and we’re going to try to get her a psychological evaluation (either voluntary or otherwise). Raise, please?
Working out! I’ve been hitting the gym about 4-5 times a week. I feel good about it but I realize now that I’m nearing my mid-20s, it’s harder to lose weight than before. But I still enjoy exercising for its other benefits so I hope I don’t get discouraged.
Trip planning! Nicholai and I leave the Monday after Christmas for Scotland and France. I am so excited to return to Scotland!
Piano practicing! I’m playing piano at Patty and Nat’s wedding. I have most of the 10 songs down but I am still nervous because, well - how can you mess up when it’s someone’s wedding??
Christmas shopping! This is my first Christmas with a salary.
Fighting with my insurance company! If I don’t get an appointment before Jan. 1, my deductible will be $400 instead of $125. I think they are trying to screw with me when they say there are no appointments until Jan. 4. Also, I am down to my last pair of contacts and I need an update badly badly badly before Europe. I’ve been trying to make an appointment since November 3, by the way.

im totally ruining myself, my life, my friends, my school work, my ideals, my goals. im so stressed i cant even think about it without crying. i cant even do this right now. everything got bad real fast and i cant seem to do it anymore. rapid hope loss. its all going down hill from here.

It’s hard to know and feel reassured by this when you feel you’re at the bottom of a large hole, but there ARE solutions. The best thing you can do right now is go talk to someone because you can’t solve your stress if you’re paralyzed from feeling overwhelmed!
