Working on a few proposals to present at a regional conference.  Now that I’m settled into my new job it’s time to start challenging myself and getting more involved in my field’s professional associations.

Seriously, I am on the verge of the biggest sobfest.  I was called a “giant” today (in a mean-spirited way because I am 5’10 and not cute and petite like the other RDs), told by a twerp that he could do my job, sent a mean e-mail from a staff member I had to write a letter of reprimand (because said person is not doing his job!) and generally felt so un-appreciated and disrespected.

Working with students and supervising staff is the ONLY thing I have ever felt good at.  Please don’t take it away from me.

Oh, and here comes the water works …

I am going to start running and cycling again (just as soon as I go out and get some mittens!).  And in a week or two when my friend is recovered from a recent surgery, we are signing up for 24 Hour Fitness memberships and going in the mornings before work.

And then there is eating.  Lean proteins and green green greens!  Supplemented with whole grains and low-fat, calcium-rich dairy.

My goal: Lose 15 pounds before I leave for Scotland.  It’s a high goal but within reach, especially since this time I have two friends for support!

Seriously, it’s always a woman scrubbing, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, etc. Fuck that!

I don’t think it would be hyperbole to say I would ace this class. Seriously, if you have never seen this series, it needs to go at the top of your to-do list.

Disney Princesses, Deconstructed

Actually, the bigger grievance with Belle is she stayed with an abusive man, convinced she could “change him.”  I think we’ve all heard that from women and men experiencing domestic abuse.

Surprise trip to Paris, maybe?

Nick and I will be in Scotland for two weeks.  Originally we planned to fly into another city on the Continent and then fly to Scotland for the P&N wedding.  But it cost waaay to much to do a multi-destination flight.  But now I see on Ryan Air and Easy Jet tickets from Scotland to Paris for approximately $140 (plus costs to travel to and from airports, which I know is the major setback for these discount airlines) for both of us.  And Nick is fluent in French.  And he deserves a good Christmas present.

So … doing it?
